Can you and should you outsource your marketing?
Welcome to Small Farm Nation Academy where we’re gonna teach you everything you need to know about how to market your farm or craft food business. So, can you outsource marketing? Absolutely people do it all the time. Should you outsource farm marketing?
Yes, most of it, let me give you the exceptions.
If you’re just starting out, you’re absolutely a bootstrap entrepreneur or farmpreneur, as I’ve been many times in my life. Of course, in the beginning, you’re gonna do a lot of this, you’re not gonna have the resources and you are gonna do some of the marketing to you want to quickly get beyond that stage though for a number of reasons.
Number one, it means that you’re running a real business. Real businesses have people who help them to build that business. You need someone to help you create the website, create the graphics right the email Copy create the auto sequences do the social media posts all the things that relate to marketing that are tactical. Get someone to help you with. That could be a family member could be an agency, it could be someone that you know.
There’s another reason why you should outsource, most of that, it’s very important for you to spend your time on the strategic issues that only you can do in the farming world. This often means being out there and promulgating the vision, the mission, inspiring people, let know what you stand for, doing presentations, doing speeches, pressing the flash even locally, but letting people get energized about what you’re doing.
Because what you’re trying to do is not just farming you’re trying to build a tribe of followers of supporters who are going to support you in the long run. That’s something that only you can do, you’re not gonna outsource that to an agency that’s gonna go out there and speak for you, that’s something that you can do.
But there are lots of tactical marketing tasks that need to get done that often don’t get done that can, and should be outsourced.
Again, the exception might be if you’re bootstrapping it, you’re in the very early stages. I get it, I’ve done it. I’d be a hypocrite if I told you not to do that yourself, but you want to quickly get beyond that stage if you expect to build a sustainable pole business
